A short overview of Andy's career to date.  Accusations that it is less-than-exciting and not prime material for an autobiography are a nothing but a vicious slur.

After leaving college with a BTEC diploma in Business and Finance, Andy entered into that holy grail of careers; retail.  The initial four years were the hardest, but the one thing it taught him was that he had a natural aptitude for sales.  Moving sideways into another company allowed him to stretch this talent further before breaking into a management role.  After a further three years, his retail management bubble burst and the beauty that is office administration beckoned.

Admin was a harsh mistress, but it taught him the ways of the office and combined with his strong sales ability, the natural environment of recruitment opened its doors.  It was a three year stretch, and a tough one too.  Recruitment takes no prisoners and although target-rich, it was also highly competitive.  All this added up to a decade's worth of sales experience, so he did the only thing he could.  He re-trained as something else.

A course on freelance writing at The London School of Journalism allowed his inner-writer to break free and grow.  Feeble temporary jobs kept him fed until he joined the UK's largest longhaul travel company, Kuoni, as a member of their marketing department, but specifically in charge of their consumer magazine; Kuoni World.

This glossy publication totaled anything from 40 - 60 pages on a quarterly basis and featured soft-sell articles on Kuoni's hotels and destinations.  Andy gave it an identity and even in the company's understandably restrictive environment, managed to inject his personality and unique tone of voice into it.  Writing almost every article, news item and feature in each issue, plus an eight page booklet featuring personally sourced offers, Kuoni World was both a labour of love and a baptism of fire into the world of fulltime writing for Andy.

Four magazines later, Andy relocated to Greece and went freelance.  This freedom allows him to focus on his main passions: cars, travel and film.  Sometime after starting out on the freelance road, Andy joined dinnerandamurder.com as a writer.  Here he creates characters and plots for a games company who produce role playing games for groups.  Complex people, intricate plots and some very colourful characters have have been born from this partnership.

Elsewhere on this site you will find details of the various publications and websites that Andy has contributed too and he is continuously looking to add to this list.  Cars and film may be what he knows best, but he can turn his writing hand to most subjects; with the new research simply being part of the fun.  With a several years freelance experience and a year on a magazine, Andy is only a short way into his time as a freelancer.  Please, keep him occupied during the rest.
